Weeping With Manhattan (pictures) (video clip)
New York City Outreach
Hello My Friends,
On Tuesday the16th, I went to ground zero in Manhattan and 'Wow!' I will never be the same. It was a day of hugging people and weeping with them. We Californians can't imagine how wounded these families in Manhattan are. It took my breath away. After nearly a month, smoke is still billowing from the remains of the Twin Towers. It's one thing to watch it on TV, it's quite another to stand in the midst, inhaling the fumes of the smoldering beams and cremated bodies; and share in the tears of thousands of people. I saw families that have been standing there day after day waiting for a policeman or a fireman to come over and tell them, "We have identified the body of your daughter, your son, your husband or wife." It is certainly a place in need of prayer. Our brothers and sisters in Manhattan are so wounded. As a nation and a people we need to bring them encouragement and healing. Remember Manhattan in your prayers.
I went to high school in Manhattan, part of my senior year. As a rebellious teenager, I never dreamed that there would be a day when I would be standing on the streets of Manhattan hugging police officers and firemen and telling them how much they are appreciated and loved! What a sight it is.
The good news is God is healing this awful wound in our nation. Christians from all over the United States are coming to Manhattan to embrace our fellow families bringing them love and comfort. I am honored that God chose me to be one of them.
Peace, Ron
(P.S.) Tonight give your child, spouse or friend just a little extra hug and tell them one more time, I love you!
